My World

This is my modest translation into English of one of my favourite rock songs, My World, written by Kiril Marichkov. I have tried to honour its essence and emotion, though I am aware some nuances may inevitably be lost in translation. My deepest respect to the original artist and his powerful work.

"And once again, I stood on the riverbank, watching the water in contemplative silence.

Silence and fog slowly corrode the soul; youth fades away like any fleeting dream.

And though we are made of clay, Lord, I do not want to spend my life in the mire.

I do not want to stand mute by the shore, waiting for a change to happen while remaining silent.

How deeply I long to live in a different world!

No, do not tell me I am wrong—do not hold me back!

My path is not yours; let me walk it alone!

Let me, even at the risk of falling, soar—if only for a moment!

My world is not yours, and I wish to walk my own way. But before I fall, let me, if just for a moment, take flight!".
