Hello, I'm Vilyana Tsekova.
I am an accredited psychotherapist, trained as both a psychologist and a psychotherapist. My background allows me to integrate a range of evidence-based approaches, tailoring therapy to suit your unique needs. I have experience in a variety of clinical settings, including Child and adolescent mental health, forensic psychiatry, NHS community mental health, the charitable sector, high-intensity therapy services, EAP and private practice. These experiences have strengthened my ability to support individuals from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of concerns. I provide a supportive therapeutic environment for individuals of all sexual orientations, ethnicities, nationalities, sizes, religions, and abilities. I am registered with AXA, Aviva, WPA, BUPA and Healix.
I work with a wide range of issues that many people face at different stages of life, including anxiety, depression, low mood and challenges with self-esteem. I can support you in building resilience, managing stress and preventing burnout, while also helping you navigate family difficulties, relationship challenges and the impact of self-criticism or perfectionism. I have experience in fertility counselling, pregnancy-related emotional support and perinatal distress, as well as providing space for carers and those adjusting to life changes. I also offer support tailored to men’s mental health, recognising the unique pressures and expectations that can make it difficult to reach out for help.
I support clients to build self-esteem, increase psychological resilience and develop a deeper sense of self-awareness. Understanding and changing unhelpful patterns and breaking free from destructive cycles are key aspects of therapy.
Together, we will explore the difficulties you face, recognise behaviours that may be holding you back, and work towards creating a more fulfilling and balanced life.
I am passionate about global health and have been involved with some humanitarian and human rights organisations, working on various health-related projects and campaigns across the globe such as Stop Torture and My Body, My Rights.
The therapeutic relationship is as important as the solid professional background of each therapist. While I am open to working with people from all walks of life, I am aware that I may not always be the right psychotherapist for everyone I meet. If, for any reason, I am unable to support you, I will do my best to provide meaningful recommendations for therapy. Your health and well-being matter, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
